Department of Pharmacy Practice and Pharmacy Administration

Education is at the heart of our mission!  Learning has no boundaries! The Department of Pharmacy Practice and Pharmacy Administration offers a wide variety of opportunities to students and post-graduate trainees to broaden their experiences and ultimately enhance their practice of pharmacy. Interprofessional medical missions expose students to the practice of pharmacy in underserved communities outside the United States. Postgraduate training in clinical residencies and industry fellowships, with an emphasis on education, provides recent pharmacy graduates, many of whom have been PCP alumni, with the training necessary to enter highly competitive fields. Our Teaching and Learning Curriculum (a.k.a. Teaching Certificate Program) furthers our mission to educate the next generation of pharmacists while highlighting some of the remarkable talent within the Department. These programs will continue to develop professionals and leaders through a diverse array of training experiences.

Postgraduate Educational and Leadership Development:

The mission of our postgraduate training programs is to prepare Doctor of Pharmacy graduates to be independent practitioners and educators in their area of focus (e.g., clinical, industry, public health). Additionally, each year the PCP Teaching and Learning Curriculum (TLC) Program provides interactive training and mentorship for 50-60 pharmacy residents and fellows from programs across the region as they develop their teaching skills in the classroom and as experiential preceptors. The postgraduate training programs and TLC Program support the pharmacist’s vow “to prepare the next generation of pharmacists” by developing trainees’ skills to effectively share their knowledge, skills, experiences, and values.
