Center for Undergraduate Research (CUR)

USciences has a long tradition of undergraduate research. We offer a unique environment where undergraduate students get hands-on experiences in research as early as their first year. The Center for Undergraduate Research (CUR) promotes investigations in all academic disciplines and cultivates a passion for independent discovery by equipping students for the challenges of the future in any career or educational situation. The Center supports high-quality research and creative activities that engages students through inquiry-based learning to advance the University of the Sciences’ educational mission.

Fundraising Initiatives:

Undergraduate Research Festival 2022

The Undergraduate Research Festival at USciences is an exhilarating event that showcases the high-quality research and creative work of undergraduate students. During this week-long celebration, students take part in an elevator research talk competition, SPEED-MEET (research “speed-dating”) with faculty research mentors, learn from USciences alumni who have excelled in undergraduate research about potential careers, and exhibit stunning images of research and scholarship. The Festival culminates in an evening Undergraduate Research Symposium, bringing together oral and poster presentations by approximately 60 undergraduate and 10 advanced high school students. Your support will allow us to enhance our students’ experience by providing prizes and funding their participation in national and international conferences.

Highschool Students STEM Internships:

Highschool students from underserved communities in Philadelphia will take part in 6-8 weeks paid STEM internships in USciences labs. By taking part in hands-on STEM experiences, students will have the opportunity to use education as a springboard to empower themselves to reach success beyond high school graduation. In 2021, USciences hosted seven high school interns, and we hope to continue the program next summer. Every $5,500 raised will support a high school intern, lab supplies for the research, and the stipend for a USciences faculty mentor.
